DOYLESTOWN - John P. Richards Jr., age 61, passed away peacefully on November 27, 2017.

John was a true family man. He loved and adored his wife, children, and grandchildren. John, “Papa”, was the happiest when surrounded by his grandchildren; they meant the world to him. A retired bus driver from METRO RTA in Akron, he was an active member of the Doylestown American Legion Post #407 and Sons of the American Legion. During his retirement, he was an avid Ohio sports fan and could often be found coaching from The Shed. He enjoyed being outdoors, especially fishing. John will be fondly remembered for his comical tee shirts and character hats that he wore with pride.

Preceded in death by his parents; John P. Richards Sr. and Mary Jane (Moyes) Richards; sister, Laura (Richards) Justice; father-in-law, Regis E. Paridon. John will be greatly missed by his wife of 35 years, JoAnn (Paridon); children, Andy (Amber) and Stephanie Richards; grandchildren, Griffin, Avery, and Reese; sister, Jackie (Alan) Smith; mother in-law, Janet Paridon; along with other family and friends.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, December 1, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 161 W. Clinton Rd., Doylestown 44230, with Fr. Robert Stein, Celebrant.  Private inurnment will be held by the family.  The family will receive friends Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Zak-Thacker & Monbarren Funeral Home, 132 N. Portage St., Doylestown. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Doylestown American Legion Post #407, 49 Black Dr., Doylestown, OH 44230, or to Sts Peter & Paul Catholic Church.  Online obituary and guest registry are available at www.zakmonbarrenfh.com
