Mr. Leo Gabriel, of Cuyahoga Falls, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 6, 2018 at the age of 90. Leo was born on July 7, 1927 in Cuyahoga Falls to Leo B. and Ida (Krauza) Gabriel and is survived by his daughter Debra D. Gabriel, of Cuyahoga Falls; grandchildren, Kyle Gabriel and Megan (Steven) Saucier (Nemeth). He is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Gabriel; son, Robert R. Gabriel, and three siblings.
Leo was strong in body and in spirit; self-made and self-reliant. Leo was a strong leader and hard worker in the construction industry; known for his notable craftsmanship in every project he touched and worked to help construct well-known areas of downtown Akron. Leo was a well-known golfer, with over 40 hole-in-ones in his life; everyone knew he loved to play the game! And, talk an even bigger game! Leo Gabriel dedicated his time to his family, remains one of a kind, and will never be forgotten.
In our hearts, “Leo the Lion” joins the finest of clubhouses, free to practice his rounds in heavenly conditions. Enjoying the colors on the green in the sunshine, Leo will forever have the perfect scorecard, plenty of birdies, eagles and hole-in-ones to add to his golf legacy.
The family would like to thank the dedicated doctors and skilled nurses for their care and time. A private service will be held by the family. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking donations be sent to the Cleveland Clinic, Cole Eye Institute, P.O. Box 931517, Cleveland, OH 44193-1655 or St. Jude’s Childrens Hospital, P.O.
