DALTON – Leta R. Shinn, age 57, passed away peacefully on May 24, 2017.

Born on January 2, 1960 in Orrville to the late Paul and Mary Ruth (Schmidt) Knode, she was a resident of Dalton for 32 years.  A 1978 graduate of Orrville High School, Leta had been employed at Dravenstotts, P. Graham Dunn, and Daniel's Heating and Cooling.  She was a member of the Orrville American Legion Post 282 Ladies Auxiliary. Affectionately known as “Mamaleta”, she was a beloved mother and nana that enjoyed doing crafts, playing games online with her friends, and finding her new passion for collecting pearls.

Preceded in death by her sister, Dorothy “Dottie” Knode, she is survived by her husband of 32 years, Ron; daughters, Nikki (Rick) Sample of Rittman, Tarah (David) Haskins of Massillon; grandchildren, Audriana and Tate; brothers, John (Paula) Knode of Marshallville, Gene (Donna) Knode of Orrville, Dale (Jan) Knode of Wooster; sisters, Donna Casey (Bob Middleton) of Wooster, Waunita Butzer of Orrville; many nieces, nephews, other family and friends; honorary daughter, Carrie (Jarrod) Chance and their children Savanna and Sylvia.

Funeral service to be held on Saturday, May 27, 2017 at 12:30 p.m. at the Zak-Thacker & Monbarren Funeral Home, 29 E. Main St., Dalton, 44618 with Pastor Paul Farren, officiating.  A private inurnment will be held at Dalton Cemetery at a later date.  Family will receive friends Saturday from 10:30 a.m. until time of service.  Online obituary and guest registry are available at www.zakmonbarrenfh.com
