DALTON – Chester A. Fath, age 87, passed away on July 27, 2018.
Born on January 7, 1931 in Massillon to the late Allen T. and Martha (Brubaker) Fath, he was a resident of Dalton for over 60 years. Retiring from J. Horst Manufacturing Co. after 40 years of service, he then went on to drive for Yoder Hydraulics. During that time, the Yoder family became like family to him. A member of Pleasant View Mennonite Church, Chet was a humble, good natured, and hardworking man who never complained. He enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren and actively supported his children in all their activities, never missing a game, concert, or event that they were to be part of. Chester also enjoyed gardening, traveling, bird watching, and people watching.
Preceded in death by his wife, Doris in 2015; son, Thomas; great granddaughter, Lillyana Fath; brothers, Willis, Laverne, Albert; sister, Irma(Roman) Schlabaugh, he is survived by his sons, Kenneth (Phyllis) of Hillsborough, NC, Karl (Anke) of Sea Cliff, NY, James (Cindy) of Columbus, OH; 8 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Cathy Fath of Dalton; brother, Richard (Doris) Fath of Kidron; sisters, Edna Wengerd of Orrville, Pearl (Doyle) Basinger of Sarasota, FL; sisters-in-law, Anne Fath of Dalton, Louise Fath of North Canton; nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 31, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Pleasant View Mennonite Church, 14795 Wooster St. N.W., North Lawrence, OH 44666, with Pastor Rocky Carr, officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call on Monday from 5-8 p.m. at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Pleasant View Mennonite Church.
