DOYLESTOWN – Donald G. Akers, age 88, passed away peacefully at home on December 27, 2018.
Born in 1930 in Marlinton, WV, to the late William and Ethel (Higgins) Akers, he was a resident of Doylestown, Ohio, since 1991, previously of Buckeye, WV. A veteran of the Korean War serving with the U. S. Marines, Donnie was a retired Ironworker with Local #17 in Cleveland, OH. He enjoyed being outdoors while deer hunting, fishing, and running coon and rabbit dogs, which he raised over the years. Donnie also loved to travel out west with his wife JoAnn to Colorado, Wyoming, and Montana to camp and fish.
He was preceded in death by his previous wife, Esther Faye (Bell) Akers; sister, Marian Beatty; brothers, Paul, Leslie, and Kermit; and stepdaughter, Teresa Magyar. Donnie is survived by his wife of 27 years, JoAnn; previous children, Theresa (Michael) Watson of Bellingham, WA, Laura (Harlan) Dean of Deming, WA, Daniel (Crystal) Akers of Buckeye, WV, Jennifer (William) George of Ucross, WY; 12 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; stepdaughter, Linda Gundersen of Doylestown, OH, stepson, Patrick (Joan) Farrell of Navarre, OH; 6 step grandchildren; 12 step great grandchildren; sister, Shirley (Marty) Riddle of Cedar Hill, TX; nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
