MARSHALLVILLE – Donald L. Shelly, age 66, passed away unexpectedly on August 2, 2017. 

Born on January 7, 1951 in Wooster to the late Delbert J. and Helen L. (Shilling) Shelly, he was a lifelong resident of Marshallville.  Don retired from Conrail in 1991 and was a member of the Rittman Moose Lodge #860, Harley Davidson Hog Club – Akron Chapter, and was a member and Son of the Legion with the Marshallville American Legion Post #718. Don enjoyed being part of the Marshallville Community.  He was always helping others by plowing everyone’s driveways, and preparing the village baseball fields for games.

Preceded in death by his brother, Richard “Dick” Zuercher, he is survived by his daughter, Kristine Deitz (Terry Becker); son, Tyrone Shelly; grandchildren, Trevor, Cruz, Axel, Echo, Theodore, Zechariah, Clayton, Tilee, Ian, Javin, Cody, Brody; siblings, Daniel (Kathy) Shelly, Diane (Kay) Dyer, Donna (William) Clarke, Dale (Karen) Shelly, Debbie (William) Johnson, David (Brenda) Shelly; sister-in-law, Kay Zuercher; numerous nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at 4 p.m. at the Zak-Thacker & Monbarren Funeral Home, 132 N. Portage St., Doylestown, with Pastor Paul Simonsen, officiating.  Friends may call on Tuesday from 2 pm until time of service. An open house will immediately follow at the Rittman Moose Lodge #860, 12527 Sheets Rd., Rittman, OH, 44270.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Moose Lodge #860 Children's Christmas Fund.  Online obituary and guest registry are available at www.zakmonbarrenfh.com
