NORTON – Franklin E. “Ed” Durant, age 84, passed away on April 10, 2018.
Born on December 9, 1933 in Barberton to the late Clemons and Rose (Bice) Durant, he was a life resident of Norton. Ed retired from Wright Tool Co. in Barberton after 42 years of service, and was a member of the Barberton Moose Lodge #759. An avid fan of the Cleveland Indians and the Ohio State Buckeyes, he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends while camping and sitting around the bonfire. He also loved to bowl.
Ed is preceded in death by the love of his life, Nancy, who passed away on January 26, 2018. They would have celebrated 62 years of marriage on Saturday, April 14th. He is also preceded in death by his son, Daniel; grandson, Brian Durant; son in-law, Richard Fox; brothers, Donald and Jimmy and sister, Mary Nichols. He leaves behind his children, Vicki Fox of Rittman, Sandi (Jim) Hendrickson of Barberton, David (Mary Ann) Durant of Norton, Dianna Case (Mike Hermann) of Mogadore, Tami (John) Whittington of Indianapolis, IN, Melissa Durant of Barberton; 16 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren with one on the way; sisters, Eleanor Kliebscheidel and Rita Sturtz; many nieces and nephews, friends, family and neighbors.
The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at Summa Heart and Lung Critical Care Unit as well as the nurses and staff at Summa Palliative & Hospice Services for taking such wonderful care of our father. A special thank you to our cousin, Rob Kliebscheidel. You put your life on hold to care for our Dad. We know that you loved him like a father. There aren’t enough words to express our gratitude.
Funeral service will be held on Monday, April 16, 2018, at 1 p.m. at the Zak-Thacker & Monbarren Funeral Home, 132 N. Portage St., Doylestown, 44230 with Pastor Jerry Clevenger, officiating. Burial to take place at Chestnut Hill Cemetery. Family will receive friends on Sunday from 3 to 6 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Summa Palliative & Hospice Services, 525 E.
