Gary M. Halliwell

ORRVILLE – Gary M. Halliwell, age 76, passed away on April 26, 2018 after a progressive illness.

Born on February 5, 1942 in Wadsworth, OH to the late Merle and Evelyn (Workman) Halliwell, he was a resident of Orrville since 2004, previously of Doylestown. Gary had retired from Continental/ General Tire with 35 years of service and was a gentleman who truly loved his job at the test center.  He was very active with the Doylestown JC’s, and was a member of the Doylestown Lions Club and Hill Climbers of High Church.  He loved to travel, hunt, fish, play cards, and could play a great game of Euchre until the end. Gary enjoyed being surrounded by his family, especially his grandchildren.

Preceded in death by his brother, Larry Halliwell; brother in-law, George Moyer; he is survived by his wife of 56 years, Shari; daughters, Jill (William) Palmore of Cape Elizabeth, ME, Kim (Dean) Scarbrough of Marshallville; grandchildren, Brett (Jessica) Scarbrough, Megan (Mark) Tepe, Dylan Palmore, Taylor Palmore, Avery Palmore; 4 great grandchildren; sisters, Toni (Ronald) Zenar of Cuyahoga Falls, Debbie Moyer of Barberton; sister in-laws, Carol (James) Christian of Orrville, Marguerite Halliwell of Doylestown; other family and friends and his special dog, Angus.

Memorial service will be held Monday, April 30, 2018 at 7 p.m. at the Zak-Thacker & Monbarren Funeral Home, 132 N. Portage St., Doylestown, OH  44230. A private inurnment will take place at the convenience of the family.
