DALTON – Harold W. Hauenstein, age 84, passed away unexpectedly on January 9, 2018.
Born on May 26, 1933 in Massillon, to the late Carl O. and Wilma (Edie) Hauenstein, he was a life resident of Dalton.
A graduate of the Dalton High School class of 1952, Harold retired from Gerber Feed as a truck driver and was an owner operator of his own truck for over 30 years. He was a devout member of the Dalton Presbyterian Church and also an advisor for the Dalton Equestrians 4H Club for many years. Harold loved to be out hunting with his dogs, and spending time woodworking. He also enjoyed working with his wife in their gardens.
Preceded in death by his wife Shirley in 2015; sister and brother-in-law, Lavonne and Ed Speicher, he is survived by his children, Constance (Steve) Rickly of Amanda, OH, Dean (Nancy) Hauenstein of Apple Creek, Richard (Darlene) Hauenstein of Wooster, Annette (Kevin Beatson) Hauenstein of Mendon, NY; 10 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; brother, Don (Liz) Hauenstein; sister, Fae (Harley) Gerber all of Dalton; many nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
Funeral service will be held on Friday, January 12, 2018 at 11 a.m. at the Zak-Thacker & Monbarren Funeral Home, 29 E. Main St., Dalton, 44618 with Pastor Sally Fusek, officiating. Burial to take place at Dalton Cemetery. Friends and family may call from 10 a.m. until time of service on Friday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Dalton Presbyterian Church, P.O.
