DALTON – Katherine I. Johnson, age 98, passed away on October 3, 2018.

Katherine was born on February 18, 1920 in Wayne County to the late Conrad & Nora (Clark) Smith. She was a graduate of Dalton High School Class of 1938. Shortly after high school, she went to work as a secretary for two different Wooster, OH firms. In 1949 she married Fora L. Johnson, he passed in 1960. Her last employer was the Ohio Agricultural Research & Development Center (OARDC), from which she retired in 1983 after 25 years of service. Her many interests included doll collecting, movies of the golden era, traveling the United States and Europe, and pen pals.

She is survived by James L. Clark and Clair E. Clark and their respective families all of Dalton, and long-time friend, Gaynell Hanna of Burbank, OH.

Per her wishes, there will be no calling hours or services. Her cremains will be interred beside her parents and husband at Dalton Cemetery. Online obituary and guest registry are available at www.zakmonbarrenfh.com
