Leon E. Allison

DOYLESTOWN - Leon E. “Pa” Allison, age 85, passed away peacefully on July 16, 2018 at Doylestown Health Care Center.

Born on March 16, 1933 in Williamsburg, PA to the late J. Ralph and Mildred (Bechtel) Allison, Leon moved to Ohio when he was eight and graduated from Doylestown High School in 1951.  He met his wife Patsy Wilford at Camp Mowana (church camp), and they then went on to marry in 1953.  They would have celebrated 65 years of marriage on October 17th.  A life resident of Doylestown, Leon retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber after 44 years of service and had also worked on the family farm (Allison Wonderland) since 1972.  He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy Reserve and was a lifetime member of Zion Lutheran Church where he was Church Treasurer for 25 years.  Leon was past President of the Goodyear 25 year club and earned the Spirit Award from Goodyear Tire and Rubber.  A beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, he will be remembered as a hardworking, caring, and loving man who loved farming and spending time with all of his grandchildren.

Preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Cindy; he leaves behind to mourn his passing, a loving wife of 65 years, Patsy; children, Debra Thompson of Parkersburg, WV, Eric (Thim) Allison of Doylestown; grandchildren, Mark (Kalea) Kaiser, Erin (John) Kis, Tara (DJ) Schreckengost, Jerry (Mary) Thompson, Amber Allison, Lisa Simmavahn, Michael and Anthony Sisouphanh; 10 great grandchildren with 2 on the way; brothers, Bill (Susan) Allison of Lawrenceville, GA, Dale (Judy) Allison of Williamsburg, VA, Robert (Diana) Allison of Tallmadge; sister, Ruth Ann (Curtis) Sheppard of Doylestown; numerous nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

The family wishes to thank the staff on the Portage wing at Doylestown Health Care for their compassion and care of Leon.

Funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 21, 2018 at 11 am at Zion Lutheran Church, 65 E. Clinton St., Doylestown 44230 with Pastor Christopher Bartholomew, officiating.  Burial with military honors to take place at Chestnut Hill Cemetery.  Friends may call on Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Zak-Thacker & Monbarren Funeral Home, 132 N.
