DALTON – Lynn E. Henning, age 78, passed away on May 6, 2018.
Born on July 11, 1939 in Massillon, OH to the late C. Lyman and Wilma (Brown) Henning, he was a resident of Dalton since 1972. Lynn retired from LTV (formerly Republic Steel) in Massillon after many years, and had also worked for Norfolk & Western Railroad. A veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Vietnam War, he was a member of the Dalton Presbyterian Church and its choir, and was a volunteer firefighter with the Dalton Fire Department for many years. Lynn loved to sing, dance, and buy and tinker with classic cars.
Preceded in death by his wife, Carol “Pat” in 1994; daughter, Melissa Greegor; grandson, Joshua Henning; brother, J.L. Gregory Henning, he is survived by his sons, Charles (Teresa) of Dalton, Eric (Valerie) of Medina; grandchildren, Justin, Brittany, Caitlyn, Matthew, Megan; 4 great grandchildren; sister, Janice (Rad) Ferre' of CA; sister-in-law, Peggy Henning of Dalton; other family and many friends.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, May 10, 2018 from 5-8 p.m. at the Zak-Thacker & Monbarren Funeral Home, 29 E. Main St., Dalton, OH, 44618. A private graveside service will be held by the family at Dalton Cemetery with Pastor Sally Fusek, officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in memory of Lynn to the American Cancer Society, PO Box 22478, Oklahoma, OK 73123.
