Marilyn Nussbaum Obituary

DALTON – Marilyn A. Nussbaum, age 88, left this life on October 8, 2018.  She was born to the late Howard and Mary Ellen (Brick) Brinkman on December 24, 1929 in Mineral City, OH.  A graduate of Mineral City High School in 1947, Marilyn moved to Massillon to work at Eaton Manufacturing where she met Harley W. Nussbaum.  They married on June 27, 1948 and made their home in Dalton, OH, where four children were born to them.  She went on to obtain her Bachelor’s degree in 1965 and then her Master’s Degree in 1975 from Kent State University.  A teacher for both Dalton Local and Tuslaw School Districts, Marilyn was a member of the Dalton Presbyterian Church, where she was an elder and sang in the church choir.

Preceded in death by her husband, Harley in 1988; son, Chris H.; sisters, Shirley McNutt, Kathy Ickes, Carolyn McKinney and Trudy Hilty, she is survived by children, Elizabeth A. (Fred) Blosser of Pompano Beach, FL, Wendy J. (Ken) Frymyer, Blake D. (Deborah) Nussbaum both of Dalton, Tony Troyer (Wooster); grandchildren, Jennifer (Bill) Kandel, Erin (Chad) Oliver, Julie (Rob) Fiesler, Kristin (Matt) Curci, Blake D. (Jessie) Nussbaum, Jessica Neiger (James Holder), Justine Nussbaum (Clay Loomis); great grandchildren, Brooke and Andrew Kandel, Darian and Braden Fiesler, Sam, Ben, and Kate Oliver, Nick and Anna Curci, Will Carmichael, Ava and Addison Nussbaum, Mykayla and Peyton Neiger, Harley Holder; sisters, Lucille Rothacher, Mary Ann (Tom) Martin; brothers, Howard (Marilyn) Brinkman, Tom A. (Shari) Brinkman; lifelong friends, Mary McCullough, and Mary Falls; nieces, nephews, other family, and friends.

The family wishes to thank the staff of both Shady Lawn Health Care and LifeCare Hospice for their loving care of Marilyn.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, October 22, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Dalton Presbyterian Church, 163 W. Main St., Dalton, OH, with Pastor Sally Fusek, officiating.  A private inurnment will take place at German Cemetery in Mineral City.  The family will receive friends at a luncheon in the church fellowship hall immediately following the service.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Dalton Presbyterian Church.  Online obituary and guest registry are available at www.zakmonbarrenfh.com
