DALTON - Mary June Loomis (nee Neal), a beloved wife, mother and dear friend to all, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 18, 2019 at the age of 81.
Born January 5, 1938 in Versailles, Kentucky to the late Victor West and Mary Kathryn (Kelly) Neal, she moved with her family to Ohio in 1948, settling first in Burbank and then moving to Dalton in 1959. A graduate of Millersburg High School, she married Glenn E. Loomis on May 27, 1956.
An active member of the Dalton United Methodist Church, she attended Bible Study weekly, was a member of the United Methodist Women, and had helped to serve countless meals for church events, funerals, and Dalton Rotary meetings. Mary babysat for many families over the years, was a volunteer in the reading center at Dalton Elementary School, a taste tester at the J.M. Smucker Co., and loved to play cards and work on puzzles.
Preceded in death by siblings Paul Neal, Gwendolyn (Neal) Fisher, Kenneth Neal, and James Neal, she is survived by her husband of 63 years, Glenn; children, Steve (Paula) Loomis, Roger (Melissa) Loomis, and Sharon (Ed) Starling; grandchildren, Megan (Adam Malherbe) Loomis, Alexandria (Rob) Gosnell, Devin Loomis and Scott Starling; great grandchildren, Peyton Kincaid, Riley Kincaid, Kimber Malherbe, Carson Malherbe and Kennedy Gosnell; siblings, Don Neal, Kelly Neal, and David Neal.
Memorial service will be on Saturday, October 26, 2019 at 2 p.m. at the Dalton United Methodist Church, 204 W. Main St., Dalton, OH, 44618, with Pastors David Martin and Mike McHale co-officiating. A private inurnment will take place at Dalton Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Dalton United Methodist Church.
