Mary Jane Somerick

AKRON - Mary Jane Somerick, age 81, passed away on May 8, 2018.

Born on August 25, 1936 in Barberton to the late John and Lois (George) Henry, she was a life resident of the Barberton/Akron area.  Mary was employed by Rogers Mfg. for 14 years and retired from Industrial Plastics after 11 years of service.  She was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church, the Slovak Catholic Sokol, the Slovene Center, and the Akron F.O.P. Lodge #7.

Preceded in death by her parents; son, John; sisters, Janet Shannon, Pat Baker and Del Henry; she is survived by her children, Kathy A. (Terry) Steinwand, Richard (Lisa) Somerick, Joseph Somerick, Mary (Larry) Trenta, Diane White; 6 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; brother, Jim Henry; sister, Loretto (Rich) Reese; many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the staff of Akron City Palliative Care, 3 East, for their comfort and care during this difficult time.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, May 17, 2018 at 7 p.m. at the Zak-Thacker & Monbarren Funeral Home, 132 N. Portage St., Doylestown 44230 with Fr. William Browne, officiating.  Private inurnment will be held at a later date.  Friends and family may call on Thursday from 5 p.m. until time of service.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.  Online obituary and guest registry are available at www.zakmonbarrenfh.com
