Paul R. Mathews

DALTON – Paul R. Mathews, age 81, passed away unexpectedly on May 25, 2018.

Born on September 13, 1936 in Sardis, OH to the late Charles E. Sr. and Edna (Shook) Mathews, he was a resident of Dalton since 1973.  Paul retired from the Dalton Local Schools as a custodian at the High School after many years.  He was a member of Joy Baptist Church in Orrville and had attended Living Water Community Church, Dalton Baptist Church, and Christian Harbor.

Preceded in death by his wife, Patricia in 2013 and brother, Dean R., he is survived by his brothers, Charles “Ed” (Mary), and Roger O. all of Woodsfield, OH; “adopted daughter”, Wendy Thompson of Dalton; sisters-in-law, Mary (James) Doty of Dalton, Frances J. (Luther) Burke of Woodsfield, OH; nieces, nephews, other family and community friends.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, June 8, 2018 at 1 p.m. at Joy Baptist Church, 11095 Old Lincoln Way East, Orrville, OH, 44667, with Pastors Doug Wilcox and Mark Hirst, co-officiating.  A private inurnment will take place at Dalton Cemetery.  Family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the church.
