Robert H. Close

DOYLESTOWN – Robert H. Close, age 78, passed away on November 6, 2018.

Born on August 13, 1940 in Barberton, OH to the late Welker and Beatrice (Huth) Close, he was a life resident of Doylestown.  A veteran of the U.S. Air Force, he developed a passion for flying and aircraft.  He graduated from Spartan School of Aeronautics in Tulsa, OK as a maintenance technician which led him to working for Eastern Airlines until their closing.  Robert then retired from Babcock and Wilcox Co. in Barberton.  He was a member of the Doylestown American Legion Post 407 and the Rittman Moose Lodge 860.

He is survived by his daughter, Rachel (Jason) Becht; grandchildren, Madisyn, Peyton, Tallon; sister, Linda Snader; brothers, John (Elaine) Close, Bill (Leslie) Close; ex-wife, Sharon Close, all of Doylestown; nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Summa Health and Dr. Melissa Soltis for their wonderful and loving care of Robert in his last days.

Calling hours will be held Monday, November 12, 2018 from 4 to 7 p.m. and one hour prior to service time at Zak-Thacker & Monbarren Funeral Home, 132 N. Portage St., Doylestown, OH, 44230.  Committal prayers and final viewing will be on Tuesday, November 13, 2018 at 1:30 p.m. with procession to Ohio Western Reserve Cemetery for interment and Military Honors to immediately follow.  A luncheon will follow at the Doylestown American Legion, 49 Black Dr., Doylestown.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Robert’s name to the Doylestown American Legion Post 407.  Online obituary and guest registry are available at www.zakmonbarrenfh.com
