Walter C. Basford

MASSILLON – Walter C. Basford, age 73, passed away on September 20, 2019.

Born in Cleveland, OH to the late Omar and Sarah (Sigman) Basford, Walter was a resident of Massillon for the past eight years, previously of Max Meadows, Va. Retiring from the Teamsters, he had logged millions of miles over many years for various trucking companies.  His passions were boating and spending time on the ocean fishing.  He also loved to play cards and watch NASCAR.  Walter will be sadly missed by his family and friends.Preceded in death by his son, Rodney; step daughter, Lisa Wagner, he is survived by his wife of 34 years, Marilyn; son, Craig (Yolanda) Basford of Wytheville, VA; step grandchildren, Dusty, Dillon, Jessie, April; sister, Elaine Griffin of Max Meadows, VA; brother, Jay Basford of Columbia, SC; a niece, three nephews, other family and friends.

Memorial service will be held on Friday, September 27, 2019 at 2 p.m. at the Zak-Thacker & Monbarren Funeral Home, 29 E.
