Andrea C. Hawkins-Powell

Andrea Carol Hawkins-Powell, age 57, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 11, 2021, following a brief illness.

She was born April 12, 1964 in Wadsworth, Ohio to James Edward and Vera Laurell (Wheeler) Hawkins, and lived her entire life in the Rittman-Akron area. A 1982 graduate of Rittman High School, she later earned an Associate Degree in a Medical Assistant Program.  As a single mother she often worked two jobs as she raised two sons who are now fine men. Even after being confined to a wheelchair, she enjoyed traveling to visit family, singing in choirs and solo, playing cards and games with her friends, and writing poetry. She was a fun loving individual whose greatest joy was being with her grandchildren. 

Surviving are her sons, Chris (Robin) Goodman of Rittman, Nick (Brianna) Goodman of Spanish Fork, Utah; grandchildren, Korben, Vera Grace and Emma; parents, James and Vera Hawkins of Etowah, TN; sisters, Monica (Don) Cerosky of Blue Ridge, Georgia, Theresa (Jeff) Davis of Sherman, Illinois; brother, David (Jenifer) Hawkins of Sweetwater, Tennessee; nieces, nephews, a great-niece, aunts and uncles. Preceding her in death were her grandparents and a cousin, Robert Hawkins.

Funeral service will be Sunday, July 18, 2021 at 6 p.m. at Zak-Thacker & Monbarren Funeral Home, 132 N. Portage St., Doylestown, OH.  Burial will take place at Etowah City Cemetery in Etowah, TN.  Calling hours will be from 4 p.m. until time of service on Sunday.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to family c/o the funeral home.  Online obituary and guest registry are available at www.zakmonbarrenfh.com
