Arthur S. Berg

DALTON – Arthur Stanley Berg, age 85, went home to be with the Lord on September 20, 2022, at Shady Lawn Nursing Home, after a period of declining health.

Born on June 16, 1937 in Wooster, OH to the late Rev Marion and Clara (Imhoff) Berg, he was a resident of Dalton since April of 1977.  On August 7, 1965, he married Malinda (Linda) Gingerich.  She preceded him in death on August 9, 1998. Arthur retired from Rosemount Analytics (formerly Westinghouse) in Orrville after 35 years of service. He also worked as a custodian through the years at various places including Central Christian High School, First National Bank in Dalton, and Lehman Awning. He attended Living Water Church.

Dad lived for going out to eat, watching the Cavs, Indians, and Steelers, as well as, going to various sporting events throughout the state. He made sure he collected sports programs from each game he attended.  He must have 100's of them. He loved the game of Putt Putt golf.  He also kept weather records back to the 1950's and was a National Weather Service observer for the area. He took the job of measuring and reporting snowfall very seriously.  If asked, he could tell you what the weather was like in any given month for years past. Dad was one of the hardest workers we knew and was always there to help out a friend.  He lived life to the fullest and was always on the go until his health began to fail.

He is survived by his son, Tim (Gloria) Berg of Corsicana, TX; daughters, Pamela (James) Rothwell of Ontario, Canada, Cheryl (Tim) Myers of Orrville; grandsons, Timothy Myers Jr, Zachariah Myers, Rodney Myers, William ( Cherokee Milletti) Myers; granddaughter, Abigail Berg; sister, Hilda Zimmerly of La Belle FL.as well as numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 27, 2022 at 11:30 a.m. at Zak-Thacker & Monbarren Funeral Home, 29 E. Main St., Dalton, OH 44618 with Pastor Dan Hostetler, officiating.  Burial to take place at Pleasant View Mennonite Cemetery.  Friends may call Tuesday from 10 a.m. until time of service.  The family would like to thank the staff at Shady Lawn and LifeCare Hospice for the care they gave dad.
