NORTON – Betty L. Sweet, age 90, passed away on January 10, 2025.
Born on March 29, 1934 in Barberton, OH to the late Park and Ruby (Simpson) Blocker, she was a resident of Norton since 1960. Betty retired as a bookkeeper with over 50 years of combined service at Wade Ford and then finished her career at Wallace Lincoln Mercury. Betty was a member of Moore Memorial United Methodist Church until it’s closing and was currently a member of First Christian Church in Wadsworth. She was an avid reader, but her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren and attending all of their events as they were growing up.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Raymond in 1989; son-in-law, Gregory Stricklen; sisters, Joyce (Joseph) Grimsic, and Diane Belkey. She is survived by her daughters, Cathy Stricklen of Wadsworth, Susan (David) Ross of Wooster, OH; grandchildren, Brittany (David) Hillyard, Benjamin Stricklen, Bethany (Scott) Hager, Gavin Ross (Tim McCoy), Mason (Olivia) Ross; great grandchildren, Harrison, Elsie, Theodore; other family and friends.
Funeral service will be Thursday, January 16, 2025 at 11:30 a.m. at Zak-Thacker & Monbarren Funeral Home, 132 N. Portage St., Doylestown, OH, 44230 with Pastor Sarah West, officiating. A private burial will take place at Greenlawn Memorial Park. Calling hours will be one hour prior to service time on Thursday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to any veteran’s organization.
