Calvin Lower Obituary

MARSHALLVILLE – Calvin E. Lower, age 94, passed away unexpectedly on December 30, 2018.

Born on October 30, 1924 in Marshallville to the late Harmon and Rosa (Zimmerman) Lower, Calvin was a life resident of Marshallville.  A veteran of WWII serving with the U.S. Navy, Calvin was owner and operator of Lower Excavating and was previously with Nussbaum Construction for over 40 years.  He was a life member and past commander of the Marshallville American Legion Post #718.  Calvin enjoyed woodworking, tending to his roses, and feeding his birds.

Preceded in death by his wife, Marcie in 1974; sons, Tim, and Ron; grandson, Christopher; brothers, Elton, and Lloyd; sisters, Lavina Thomas, Oleta Malcuit, Cora Zimmerman, Leota Lower, Nola Lower; he is survived by his sons, Gary (Darlene) of Creston, Mark (Rita Lower) of Marshallville; grandchildren, Tara (Shea) Detweiler, Evan Lower (Emily Farron), Justin Lower (Janise Sandrock); great grandchildren, Brittany, Allison, Garrett, Lucas, Carter; daughter-in-law, Debbie Lower; special friend, Tomma Hicks; nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

A private service will be held by the family with inurnment at Sherwood Memorial Gardens in Wooster, OH.  Memorials may be made in Calvin’s memory to the Marshallville American Legion Post #718, 7 South Main St., Marshallville, OH, 44645.  Online obituary and guest registry are available at www.zakmonbarrenfh.com
