DOYLESTOWN – Carolyn Capen, age 84, passed away in Akron, Ohio, on June 29, 2024.
Born on January 23, 1940, to the late Roy and Doris (Berger) Tester of Doylestown, Carolyn was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 52 years, Jack in 2014, and siblings, Lucille Golubov and Bob Tester. Carolyn is survived by her son, Jerry (Kelly); her grandson, Cody (Jasmine); siblings, Juanita Tibbits, Dale (Debbie) and Carl Tester; and numerous nieces and nephews. Carolyn cherished quiet, simple moments, such as her family fishing trips to Canada and putting together jigsaw puzzles with loved ones. A devoted Cleveland Indians fan until the end, she had dutifully watched every televised game this season.
Carolyn was a formidable bowler, having once bowled a perfect 300 game at Charger Lanes in Norton, where she also worked for a time. Her passion for bowling followed her to Bellefontaine, where she worked for years at T P Lanes and was proud to ultimately be inducted into their Bowling Hall of Fame. After moving back to Doylestown to be near family in 2019, Carolyn loved seeing the renovation progress at Great Oaks Lanes, which the proprietors of Great Oaks Tavern were always happy to share with her. Carolyn will be remembered for her easygoing demeanor and her spectacular Cherry Goop recipe, which will never again be created as perfectly delicious and goopy as she made it. Carolyn will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
Per Carolyn’s request, there are no services scheduled at this time. Memorials may be made in her honor to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Online obituary and guest registry are available at www.zakmonbarrenfh.com
