Colleen M. Close, 78, of Massillon/Dalton OH, passed away on Thursday, June 4th, 2026.
Colleen was born September 23rd, 1947 in Orrville, OH to the late John H. and Irene Deetz. A 1965 graduate of Dalton High School, she was a resident of Massillon for the past 15 years and previously of Dalton since 1972. Colleen was a member of the Sons of Herman in Massillon and loved playing Euchre with her senior friends.
Colleen made excellent pies. She would always bring everyone’s favorite to the numerous family get togethers. She was also known for crafting handmade gifts or working on her latest blanket project.
Even though she was a home body, Colleen did travel with intention. She brought home memories of visiting England, but it was the time spent in Montana visiting her best friend, Vicki, that captured her heart. She spoke of the beauty of Montana for many years.
She was a protective and loving mom to her children. However, she was the crazy and fun “gram” to all of the grandkids. Her laugh and smile will always be remembered.
She is survived by her children, Stephanie and Jason, her grandchildren, Frankie, Seth, Madison, Taylor and Sidney, her great granddaughter Emerson. She is also survived by her brother John M. Deetz.
There will be no services per Colleen’s wishes, and she will be laid to rest in Montana. Colleen will be deeply missed by her family and all who knew her.
