WADSWORTH – David “Dave” D. Lusk passed away on June 1, 2023, at the age of 76. His battle with cancer highlighted his tremendous character and charge to face every day with a smile and smart joke. Dave’s love of life didn’t come to an end with his death, as he was surrounded by family—in person and in spirit—who will continue to honor his legacy by living their lives to the fullest.
Dave was born on September 5, 1946, to the late John and Marie (Hambrick) Lusk in Wadsworth, Ohio. Upon graduating Doylestown High School, Dave married his high school sweetheart, Sandra “Sandy” L. (Post) Lusk, and settled in Doylestown. They would have celebrated 57 years of marriage in mid-June. Dave worked at B.F. Goodrich and spent the following years running a successful vending business. He was also a member of the Doylestown Booster Club and the Marshallville American Legion Post #718. Dave applied his love of sports to coaching American Legion Baseball and running the men’s softball league in Marshallville for several years.
The simplest pleasures brought great joy to Dave’s life. He loved ice cream and watching re-runs of cowboy western dramas. Dave’s contagious personality and unbounded kindness allowed him to touch the lives of countless people. As a giant in his family’s lives, he will be sorely missed. In addition to his parents, Dave is preceded in death by his son-in-law, Jeff Piatt, and his brothers, John and Richard Lusk. He is survived by his loving wife, Sandy; daughters, Annette (Dave) Jundzilo of Marshallville and Jennifer Piatt of Doylestown; grandchildren, Austin Piatt, Hailey Piatt, Jaclyn Jundzilo, and Talen Jundzilo; sister, Rae Jean (Doug) Kraemer of Mexico; brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Sandra Lusk of Doylestown; many nieces and nephews; other family and friends.
A Celebration of Life for Dave will be held on Sunday, August 20, 2023, from 2-6 p.m. at Klusch Hall at Marshallville Park, located at 48 Park St., Marshallville, Ohio, 44645. Come celebrate wearing Ohio State or Blue and White colors. Memorials may be made to the Dave Lusk Memorial Scholarship at US Bank, 53 Portage St., Doylestown, OH 44230.
