Dennis Lee Hicks

DOYLESTOWN – Dennis L. Hicks, age 67, passed away on April 24, 2026 after a lengthy illness.

Denny was born in Barberton on September 15, 1958 to the late Charles and Grace (Deerman) Hicks.  Denny retired as a custodian for Chippewa Local Schools after 44 years of service.  He was great at building things and loved being outdoors.  He especially loved being a grand dad and loved his family tremendously.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Chuck and Hobert.  He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife of 47 years, Cindy; children, John, Amy (Gary) Berisford, Rebecca (Pete) Blackstone; grandchildren, Grace, McKenzi, Caleb, Madilyn, Ivy, Lilly, and Jase; sisters, Wanda Kulick, Becky (Doug) Thacker, and twin sister, Donna (Mark) Vorachek; brother-in-law, Steven (Jennifer) Rutledge; sister-in-law, Janet Hicks, as well as many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank Kendra, Cindy, and Renee as well as all the staff at Southern Care Hospice for their loving care of Denny.

Funeral service will be Thursday, April 30, 2026 at 12 p.m. at the Zak-Thacker & Monbarren Funeral Home, 132 N. Portage St. Doylestown, OH, 44230 with Pastor Rod Grabski, officiating.  Burial will follow at Chestnut Hill Cemetery.  Calling hours will be from 10 a.m. until time of service on Thursday.  Online obituary and guest registry are available at www.zakmonbarrenfh.com
