DOYLESTOWN - Donald L. Burkey age 68 walked into the arms of his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, October 12, 2022. He was born on October 26, 1953 in Chicago, IL to Theodore G. Burkey (deceased) and Pauline E. (Leiby) Burkey. He grew up in Doylestown and was a 1973 Graduate from Chippewa High School. Following graduation, he joined the United States Army where he proudly served our Country for 40 years both state side and overseas in Germany and in Desert Storm. He retired from the United States Army in 2013. In addition to the military, Don worked at Boys Village for 21 years. After his retirement, he moved to Maryville, TN where he resided with his wife of 27 years, Christina (Sidwell) Burkey. Don enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. He also enjoyed his multiple fur babies, Wonder, Rango, Zeina, Mason and Gideon.
Don is preceded in death by his father, brother-in law’s, Mike Summers and Bob Eckberg, and his infant daughter, Allison Lynne Burkey. He is survived by his children, Donald Patrick Burkey and Molly Cashiola, his stepsons, Ryan P. Drouhard and Roger (September) Drouhard and several grandchildren, his siblings, Phyllis (Ginny) Summers (Dave Conrow), Theodore G. Burkey II (Marilyn Graybil), Shirley (Bob) Hopkins, Jenice (Jeff) McEndree, and several nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed by all who had opportunity to know him.
Don will be laid to rest at the Western Reserve Cemetery in Rittman, Ohio on Thursday, October 27th at 2:15 p.m. Memorial donations can be made to your local animal shelter. Online obituary and guest registry are available at www.zakmonbarrenfh.com
