Donna M. Zuercher

DALTON - Donna Marie Zuercher, 96, of Dalton died Friday, March 7, 2025 at Aultman Hospital in Canton. Born on Aug. 29, 1928 to the late Carl D. and Anna Marie (Weisgarber) Wertz, she was a lifelong resident of the Dalton area. Donna graduated from Dalton High School in 1947 and married Kenneth L. Zuercher on May 12, 1948. She and Kenny were the original owners and operators of the Dalton Dari-ette, which they had built in 1957. Donna also cooked and served family-style meals at Zuercher’s Home Cooking, a restaurant she and her husband operated in their Dalton home for nearly 20 years.

She is survived by sons, Ken R. Zuercher and Jeffrey L. (Deborah) Zuercher of Dalton; grandsons, Andy (Kayle) Zuercher and Steve (Melody) Zuercher of Dalton; great-grandchildren,  Autumn and Blaise Zuercher, Audrey and Zander Williamson and Lily and Juniper Zuercher; sister, Wanda Hann of Dalton; sisters-in-law, Laurel Wertz of Dalton, Ursula Wertz of FL; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenny Zuercher; brothers, Carl “Wilbur”, Bill (Carol) and John Wertz; sister, Helen (Robert L.) Nelson; brother-in-law, Lawrence Hann.

In addition to cooking for friends and relatives as well as customers, Donna enjoyed time spent with her family, quilting, and sports of all kinds. Known for her caring nature, kind heart and winning smile, she will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Funeral service will be Thursday, March 13, 2025 at 12 p.m. at Zak-Thacker & Monbarren Funeral Home, 29 E. Main St., Dalton, OH, 44618 with Rev. Tim Hull, officiating.  Burial will take place at Dalton Cemetery.  Calling hours will be from 10 a.m. until time of service on Thursday.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Aultman Foundation at www.aultmanfoundation.org.  Online obituary and guest registry are available at www.zakmonbarrenfh.com
