Douglas P. Bowling

ASHLAND – Douglas P. Bowling, age 65, passed away on April 1, 2022.

Born on February 3, 1957 in Hyden, KY to the late Pearl and Juanita (Bentley) Bowling, he was a resident of Ashland for 32 years, previously of Nashville, OH.  Doug retired from Norton Co. in Orrville after many years of service.  He loved to hunt, camp, spend time in his garden, watch NASCAR and do anything that involved his grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his infant twin sons; brothers, David and James Bowling; sister, Emma Lou Ritchey; father in-law, Harold McCleary, he is survived by his wife of 38 years, Bonnie; children, Douglas (Stephanie) Bowling of Loudonville, Amber Bowling (Bruce Cappadony) of Nashville, OH, Amanda Bowling of Ashland; grandchildren, Colton, Hunter, Dakota, Khloe, Gage, Cameron, Brighton, Brayzin, Braxton, Kalan “Footsteps”, Kolsen, Olivia, Jaxson, Noah; sisters, Shirley O’Reilly of AZ, Tammy (Charles) Altvater of TX; brothers, Ronald Bentley (Christine Mitchell) of AZ, Donald Bowling of VA, Dan (Mary) Bowling of Big Prairie, OH; mother in-law, Betty McCleary of Smithville; sisters in-law, Barbara Tennent, Kathy (Harold) Moravy, Janet (Mike) Bonnell, Linda Gilbert; brother in-law, Alan Tennent; many special friends and children that called him PaPa from Crestline.

The family would like to thank the nurses from Pathways Hospice, especially P.J. LeMaster and Kate Bradley for their loving care of Doug.

Funeral service will be Friday, April 8, 2022 at 12 p.m. at the Zak-Thacker & Monbarren Funeral Home, 132 N. Portage St., Doylestown, OH, 44230 with Pastor Doug Olsen, officiating.  Burial will be at Smithville Cemetery.  Calling hours will be on Friday from 11 a.m. until time of service.
