Duane E. Hummel

SHREVE – Duane E. Hummel, age 60, passed away on June 29, 2020.

Born on October 31, 1959 in Huntington, WV, he was a resident of Shreve for 4 years, previously of Wilmington, NC. A veteran of the U.S. Navy, Duane had worked for I.D. Images LLC and MTD in Valley City.  He was a member of Faith Second Advent Christian Church, Shreve Sisterhood of Knitters, Shreve Friends of Library and was an Admin for Beginning Wood Carvers  (BWC) on Facebook.  Duane was an avid reader, enjoyed wood carving and gaming, and loved his grandchildren.

Preceded in death by his mother, Helen Hummel, biological brother, Edgar Meddings, and biological parents, William and Dottie Harvey, he is survived by his wife of 34 years, Mandy; children, Donnie (Becky) George Jr., Lynda (Steven) Wisecarver, David George (Vanessa Jorgensen), Crystal (Dan) Wolfe; 18 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; father, Gene (Dixie) Hummel; step-brother, Frank Miller; biological siblings, Lori Morris, Kathy Johnson, William Harvey Jr., Brian Harvey, Angela Greathouse; other family and friends.

Private services will be held by the family. Burial to take place at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery with military honors.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family c/o Zak-Thacker & Monbarren Funeral Home, 132 N.
