WADSWORTH – Earl M. Helmreich, age 85, passed away unexpectedly on December 29, 2024.
Born on August 30, 1939 in Stone Creek, OH to the late Clarence and Maxine (Bahmer) Helmreich, he was a long-time resident of Doylestown and Richwood WV. A graduate of the Ohio State University and a veteran of the U.S. Army and the Ohio Army National Guard, Earl had retired from the State of Ohio, Department of Agriculture as Chief of the Dairy Division, formerly the Ohio Department of Health, Dairy Sanitation Unit. He was an avid fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes and enjoyed spending time and working on his small farm in Richwood, WV. He also enjoyed rooting for his grandchildren at their sporting events and always had “the bail money”.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his longtime companion, Laura Fowler; sister, Marjorie Dice, he is survived by his children, Beth Helmreich of Delaware, OH, Richard (Julie) Helmreich of Dublin, OH; grandchildren, Margaret “Maggie” (Cooper) Dennis, Kelly (Tommy) Cole; Stephanie and Rachel Haeuptle; great grandsons, Jackson, Charles “Charlie”; step children, Melissa (John) Llewellyn of Doylestown, OH, Andy (Mike) Fowler of Chicago, IL, Patrick (Kristen) Fowler of Boulder, CO; step grandchildren, Taylor (Ben) Easterling, Miranda Llewellyn, Nicholas Llewellyn, Sean Fowler, and Natalie Fowler; sister, Phyllis (John) Pugliesi of Pen Argyl, PA; other family and friends.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 11, 2025 at 11 a.m. at Zak-Thacker and Monbarren Funeral Home, 132 N. Portage St., Doylestown, OH, 44230 with Deacon Robert Youngblood, officiating. Calling hours will be one hour prior to service time.
