Mechanicsburg, OH – Elsie Klingler, age 87, went home to be with the Lord on March 24, 2025.
Born on January 18, 1938 in Holmes County, OH to the late Roman and Annie (Yoder) Slabach. Elsie grew up in Dalton and lived there until 2007 when she moved to Mechanicsburg, Ohio to be close to her daughter and grandchildren. She was a member of the Slabach Sisters Quartet with her sisters in their youth. Elsie had been employed by the J.M. Smucker Co. and also the Dalton Dari-ette. She taught piano lessons at Faith Christian Academy and Gospel Haven Schools, and to many students at her home. A member of Grace Gospel Church, her true enjoyments in life were sharing her love of piano with others, spending time with her friends and family, working on a good puzzle, crocheting, and bird watching.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Dale L; sister, Mary Slabach; brothers-in-law, David Drushell, Richard Kamph, Norman Lowe; and sister-in-law Etta Mae Slabach. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Heidi and Dave Lyons of Cable, OH; grandchildren, Rachel (Floyd) Bierma of South Vienna, OH, Leah (Brian) Hawes of Springfield, OH, Joshua (Elizabeth “Liz") Lyons of Xenia, OH; great grandchildren, Thomas, Mikayla, Neriah, Samuel; brother, Allen Slabach of Orrville; sisters, Sylvia Drushell of Dalton, Ruthie Kamph, and Bonnie Lowe, both of Kidron; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held on Friday, March 28, 2025, at 1 p.m. at the Zak-Thacker & Monbarren Funeral Home, 29 E. Main St., Dalton, OH, 44618 with Lloyd Lusk, officiating. Burial will be at Dalton Cemetery. Calling hours will be from 11:30 a.m. until time of service on Friday.
