Ervin M. Hershberger Obituary

DALTON – Ervin M. Hershberger, age 84, passed away on January 31, 2021. Born on July 6, 1936 in Dalton, OH to the late Menno and Emma (Miller) Hershberger, he was a lifelong resident.  Ervin retired from Superior Meats in Massillon after 30 years of service and then worked for 10 years at Horst Manufacturing.  He also drove a rural paper route for both the Massillon Independent and the Wooster Daily Record for many years.  Ervin was a self-taught harmonica player who along with his wife Lenore loved to sing at church, nursing homes, and travel to bluegrass festivals. Preceded in death by his first wife, Ruth H. Hershberger; second wife, Lenore Hershberger; sister, Betty Byler, he is survived by his children, Jewel Hershberger of Massillon, Delores (Jerome) Gray of Florida, Lavonne (John) Lucero of Texas. Steve (Sandra) Hershberger of Dalton; stepson, Charles Geiser; 10 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren; brother, Freeman (Lorraine) Hershberger of Dalton; other family and friends. A private memorial service will be held by the family at Pleasant View Mennonite Church with Pastor Rocky Carr, officiating. A live stream of the service will be available at Pleasant View Church on Facebook at 2 p.m. on Saturday, February 13, 2021.  Inurnment will take place in the church cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to MCC Connections, C/O Mennonite Central Committee at MCC, P.O. Box 500, Akron, PA 17501-0500.
