Ethel M. Streb

Dalton – Ethel M. Streb, age 94 of Dalton, passed away Tuesday, December 20, 2022 at Shady Lawn Health Care following complications from a fall.

She was born to Charles H. and Vesta M. (Eicher) Pitz on April 11, 1928. She married James A. Streb on June 20, 1953. He survives. A 1953 graduate of Washington High School, she went on to obtain a B.S. degree in Education from Otterbein College.  She pursued her education career (when her children were old enough) as a second grade teacher at Dalton Elementary School and was recognized as a Martha Holden Jennings Scholar.

Ethel was a woman of faith, prayer, charity, ministry and worship.  She attended Chapel of the Cross United Methodist Church, Dalton United Methodist Church and the Dalton Presbyterian Church.

Ethel was also a woman of family.  In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Susan (Les) Schumacher of Kidron, Mark (Myrna) Streb, Amy Streb and Paul (Karen) Streb, all of Dalton: grandchildren, Kristina Parkanzky, Kelly (Jeremy) Hull, Angela (Brian) Anderson, Lindsay (Max) Ramsay and Abby (Brad) Withrich: fourteen great-grandchildren, Mark and Sterling Parkanzky; Collin and Cora Hull; Luke, Cole, and Megan Anderson; Mallory, Seth, Cassidy, and Bryce Ramsay; Hadley, Caden, and Grayson Withrich.  All were remembered on Christmas, birthdays and anniversaries.  She is also survived by her sister, Dorothy Ruffley of Milford, OH (nieces, Kathy Kellum and Linda Allen): brother, Harold (Shirley) Pitz of Orrville, OH; other family and friends.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Aultman Orrville Hospital, Shady Lawn, and Life Care Hospice.  A special thank you to daughter Amy for her expert and loving care of Mom.

Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, December 27, 2022 at 11 a.m. at Dalton Presbyterian Church, 163 W. Main St., Dalton, OH 44618 with Pastor Sally Fusek, officiating.
