DOYLESTOWN – Eugene R. Harper, age 82, passed away unexpectedly on February 17, 2021.
Born on May 19, 1938 in Ryan, WV to the late Estil and Tessie (Hunt) Harper, he was a resident of Doylestown since 1971 previously of Akron. Eugene retired from the Akron-Barberton Belt Line with 36 years of service and attended Union Missionary Baptist Church. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved being outdoors, going to flea markets and gardening.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy J. Harper in 2019; brother, Cecil (Mary) Harper, and brother in-law, Blaine Ashley. Eugene is survived by his sister, Jewell Ashley of Wadsworth; brothers, Caroll (Ruth) Harper and Tommy (Martha) Harper all of Spencer, WV; nephews, David (Jenna) Ashley, Wayne Harper; nieces, Debbie (Dave) Schroeder, Darlene Schtucka, Jacquie (Bobby) Smaistrla, Dianna (Ted) Gilkerson; many great nieces and nephews; sister in-law, Nancy (Charles) Browning; special family members, Kourtney and Kendall Kehres and their families.
Funeral service following Covid-19 guidelines requiring facial coverings, social distancing and limited number of guests in the facility will be held on Sunday, February 21, 2021 at 5 p.m. at the Zak-Thacker & Monbarren Funeral Home, 132 N. Portage St., Doylestown, 44230 with Rev. William Moore, officiating. Burial will take place at Swank Cemetery in Spencer, WV. Family will receive friends from 4 p.m. until time of service.
