DOVER – Frank W. Rentsch, age 88, passed away unexpectedly on June 23, 2025.
Born on December 23, 1936 in Dundee, OH to the late Frank E. and Arlene B. (Miller) Rentsch, he was a lifetime resident of the Dover area and a 1954 graduate of Dover High School. After serving in the U.S. Marine Corps., Frank returned home to Dover. His career, primarily as an industrial electrician and maintenance specialist, was with Union Camp Company, currently International Paper, where he was employed for over 33 years. He attended Dover First United Methodist Church and enjoyed gardening, lapidary, woodworking, wine making, and reading nonfiction among other activities.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Stanley Rentsch; sister, Marilyn (Richard) Torgler, he is survived by his wife of 32 years, Karen; children, Joan Rentsch of Knoxville, TN, Wayne (JoEllen) Rentsch of Charlotte, NC, Joyce Rentsch of Dover; stepchildren, Don (Kelly) Thacker of Doylestown, OH, Cindy (James) Emch of Troy, MO; 5 step grandchildren; 7 step great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Judy Rentsch of Beach City; nephews, Ed and Todd Rentsch, Richard Torgler; niece, Cheryl Torgler; other family and friends.
Inurnment with military honors will be held on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, at 12:45 p.m. at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, 10175 Rawiga Rd., Seville, OH, 44273. A celebration of Frank’s life and reception will follow from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center, 831 Boulevard St., Dover, OH, 44622. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. Online obituary and guest registry are available at www.zakmonbarrenfh.com
