Freeland Oliverio Obituary

DOYLESTOWN – Freeland D. Oliverio, age 89, passed away peacefully after a brief illness on August 5, 2021, surrounded by his family.

Born on September 3, 1931 in Stonewood, WV to the late Salvatore and Annunziata (Angotti) Oliverio, he was a resident of Doylestown since 1995, previously of Stonewood, WV. He was a graduate of St. Mary’s High School and then attended Salem College, both in Clarksburg, WV. A veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving on the U.S.S. Des Moines during the Korean Conflict, he retired from AFG in Clarksburg, WV and had also worked at P.P.G. Glass Company in Stonewood, and Fourko Glass in Clarksburg, WV. Freeland was an active member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help in West Virginia and later in his life, Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Doylestown. He served on the Little League Baseball board as well as the St. Mary’s PTA while in WV. A gentleman who truly cherished his family, especially his grandchildren, he loved to garden and work in his yard.

Preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis in 2016; son, Dr. Salvatore Lee Oliverio; sisters, Constance Clutter, Florence Barrett, Nancy Clark, Stella Oliverio; brothers, John, Dominic Samuel, and Tony. He is survived by his sons, Dr. Freeland G. (Mary) of Marshallville, Anthony (Jennifer) of Wadsworth, Dr. Jon (Dawn) of Doylestown, Jerome (Kimberly) of Morgantown, WV; grandchildren, Dr. Anthony (Dr. Brigitte), Dr. Matthew (Samantha), Freeland (Caitlyn), Patrick, Catherine (Rob) Williamson, Salvatore (Dr. Sarah), Dominic (Lauren), Dr. Vincent, Alexandria, Gianna, Emily, Angela, Joseph; great grandchildren, Santino, Mia, Olivia, Salvatore, Stella, Jack, Leonardo, Michelangelo; daughter in-law, Susan McGill; numerous nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, August 10, 2021 at 11:30 a.m. at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, 161 W. Clinton St., Doylestown, 44230 with Fr. Robert Jackson, Celebrant. Burial will take place at the church cemetery. Family will receive friends 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. with a rosary at 10:45  at Zak-Thacker & Monbarren Funeral Home, 132 N. Portage St., Doylestown. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN, 38105.
