Garnet King Obituary

WADSWORTH – Garnet L. King, age 99, passed away on October 31, 2024.

Born on July 29, 1925 in Coolville, OH to the late Henry and Edith (Green) Barnhart, she had been a resident of Wadsworth since 1986, previously of Norton. During World War II, she was a Rosie the Riveter and because of her small size, she would be sent out into the airplane wings. Garnet retired from O’Neil’s as a bridal consultant and was a member of Mt. Zwingli Church.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Harry C. King in 1984; daughter, Daena Mauer; sons, Kenneth King, Ricky G. King, and Roy “Skip” King; son-in-law, Jamie Mauer; 9 sisters; and 4 brothers. Garnet is survived by her son, David (Jan) King of Clinton; daughter-in-law, Patricia King of NC; 11 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

Funeral service will be held on Monday, November 4, 2024 at 11:30 a.m. at Mt. Zwingli United Church of Christ, 2172 S. Medina Line Rd., Wadsworth, OH, 44281 with Pastor John Lawrence, officiating.  Burial will take place at Greenlawn Memorial Park.  Calling hours will be one hour prior to service at the church.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Doylestown Health Care’s Activities Dept., 95 Black Dr, Doylestown, OH 44230.  Online obituary and guest registry are available at www.zakmonbarrenfh.com
