MARSHALLVILLE – Garnett M. Kays, age 79, passed away on June 27, 2020.
Born on July 13, 1940 in Mercer County, KY to the late Edgar and Emma (Burns) Kays, he was a resident of Marshallville for 52 years. Retired from Bender Loudon Motor Freight, he loved being outdoors mowing and working in his vegetable garden. He enjoyed auctions, tractor pulls, collecting die-cast cars, trucks, and tractors, and was an avid fan of the Kentucky Wildcats.
Preceded in death by his great grandsons, Maxton and Solomon; brother James H. Kays, he is survived by his wife of 61 years, Lavone; daughter, Sue (Tom) Steiner of Sebring, FL; son, Wayne (Joan) Kays of Doylestown; grandchildren, Rashelle (Kurt) Korbas, Kyle Kays, Emily Kays (Ryan Berenyi), Amanda Tyson, Stephanie (Aaron) Mensink, Thomas “Tommy” (Elizabeth) Steiner; 10 great grandchildren; brother, Bobby (Edna) Kays of Doylestown; sisters, Helen Patterson of TX, June Ison of KY, numerous nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, July 2, 2020 at 11 a.m. at Maple Grove Cemetery in Marshallville, OH with Pastor Jim Smith officiating.
