COLUMBUS, OH – Gavin L. Ross, age 33, passed away peacefully on October 30, 2025 surrounded by family. After a courageous battle with Hodgkin's Lymphoma and many highs and lows, Gavin was at a moment in time cancer free and then received a successful stem cell donation for his brother. Unforeseen complications in his lungs would not let him see the completion of his recovery. A 2010 graduate of Chippewa High School, he then went on to obtain his associate degree in Food Management from Sullivan University in Louisville, KY. Cooking was something that he enjoyed doing for both family and friends.
A resident of Columbus for 8 years, previously of Doylestown, Gavin was employed by Hilliard City Schools as a bus driver and also drove one of the many motorcoaches for The Ohio State University. A special moment in Gavin’s life was the honor of being awarded his Eagle Scout from Boy Scout Troop 122. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially kayaking, and was able to travel to a number of National Parks.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Charles and Esther Ross, step grandmother, Helen Helmick, and grandparents, Raymond and Betty Sweet. He leaves behind his parents, David and Susan Ross of Wooster; brother, Mason (Olivia) Ross of Doylestown; fiancé, Timmy McCoy; Timmy’s mother, Terrisa McNeely of Marysville, OH and his siblings, Tonya, Emaleigh, Ryan, Chris, Justin, Nathan, Brandon, Mason, Hayli, Irelyne, Drayden, and Kendyl; he also left behind many beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, and other family and friends.
The Ross family would like to extend a special thank you to the amazing nurses, doctors, and transplant team at The James Cancer Hospital at The Ohio State University. They would also like to thank all of the prayer warriors and donors who supported Gavin through his cancer journey. #GavinsSupportSquad
