West Salem, OH – Gerald “Jerry” K. Snyder, age 80, passed away on February 14, 2022.
Born on July 6, 1941 in Millersburg, OH to the late Guy and Mae (Hostetler) Snyder, he was a resident of West Salem for the past year, previously of the Lake Wapusun area in Shreve. A graduate of The Ohio State University and member of the Ohio National Guard, Jerry was an entrepreneur and owner of many businesses’ to include Snyder Hot Shot Truck and Trailer, H&H Equipment, United Farm Tool, American Payroll Advance, Gerald Snyder Escort Service, and he was also a cattle breeder and owned a saw mill. An avid fan of dirt track racing, Jerry drove a push truck for many years at various dirt tracks in the area while also sponsoring several drivers and was always there to cheer on Clint. One of many accomplishments was taking his motorcycle on a six week trip, sometimes riding by himself and sometimes with others, to Alaska and back. He also made several trips on the Blue Ridge Parkway and rode back from CA.
He is survived by his son, Clint (Kim) Snyder of West Salem; daughter, Renee (Doug) Hile of Shreve; grandchildren, Shawn, Summer, Ricky, Madison, and Prestin; sister, Eileen (Art) Beery of Wooster; good friends, Delbert Osborn and Bill King; other family and many other friends.
Funeral service will be held on Friday, February 18, 2022 at 5 p.m. at Cornerstone Community Church, 18600 Davis Rd., Dalton, OH, 44618, with Pastor Chuck Vanasse, officiating. Calling hours will be on Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. and one hour prior to service at the church Friday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Ohio's Hospice Life Care, 1900 Akron Rd., Wooster, OH 44691 or Hilltop Speedway, 2927 County Rd. 150, Millersburg, OH 44654 in support of a race to be held in his honor.
