Gwendolyn "Gwen" J. Gerber

DALTON – Gwendolyn “Gwen” Jeannette Gerber of Dalton passed away August 22, 2024 at Ohio’s Hospice LifeCare in Wooster, OH.

Gwen was born to Edson and Minnie (Riblet) Graber on July 26, 1934. She was a life resident of the Dalton area, graduating from Dalton High School in 1952 and marrying her high school sweetheart, Russell John Gerber on November 6, 1953. Gwen and Russ celebrated 64 years of marriage before his passing on November 16, 2017. Together, they owned and operated M & M Oil Company in Dalton as fuel distributors. She was a sports enthusiast, playing competitive tennis and golf for many years. Gwen was a self-taught bridge player and achieved a Life Master ranking. She loved gardening, cooking, playing cards, and socializing with her friends. Gwen found great joy in spending time with her family and keeping up with everyone's activities.

She is survived by her son, Brian (Mary) Gerber of Valdosta, Georgia; daughter-in-law, Kathy Gerber of Navarre, Ohio; grandchildren, Allison (Brian) Lintern, Michael (Tiffany) Gerber, Matthew Gerber, Catherine Gerber, and William Gerber; great grandchildren, Gavin Lintern, Nolen Gerber, and Stella Gerber; and brother-in-law, John Siemer of Stockton Springs, Maine. 

In addition to her parents and husband, Gwen was preceded in death by her son, Kevin; brothers, Edson (Carol) Graber and Rodney (Patricia) Graber, and sister Jacquelyn Siemer. 

Calling hours will be held on Monday, August 26, 2024 from 10 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. at Zak-Thacker & Monbarren Funeral Home, 29 E. Main St., Dalton, OH, 44618.  Family and friends will then process to the Dalton Cemetery for a graveside service with Steve Cook officiating.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Ohio’s Hospice LifeCare, 1900 Akron Rd., Wooster, OH, 44691.  Online obituary and guest registry are available at www.zakmonbarrenfh.com
