DOYLESTOWN - Helen June Dignan, 94, passed away peacefully at home with family by her side on April 16, 2021.
Helen was born on July 25, 1926, to Esther (Pizer) and Homer C. Henry Sr., in Akron, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Homer C. (“Hank”) Henry Jr. On January 15, 1952, Helen became the beloved wife of Bartholomew Andrew Dignan, who died October 26, 2020. They raised their family in Doylestown, where they bought their home in 1954. Helen is survived by daughter, Joette Dignan Weir; son, Craig (Janet) Dignan; her grandchildren, Cameron Weir, Caroline Weir (David Visnicky), Angela (Sidney) Harrison, Jason (Katherine) Dignan, and Christina Dignan. She was the great-grandmother of Cain Belmont, Sydney Harrison, Jase and June Dignan, and Ellis and Margaret Weir Visnicky.
Throughout their marriage, Helen and Bert enjoyed gardening and other outdoor activities, including camping and boating with their family. Helen was an enthusiastic volunteer during her children’s school years, whether it was as a room mother or with Girl Scout activities. She loved to bake and could be counted on to contribute cookies, cakes and other treats to organizations’ bake sales through the years. An avid reader, Helen shared her love of books with her children and grandchildren. Her grandchildren fondly remember the many hours she spent reading to them and playing games, especially Go Fish. All Helen’s grandchildren loved the goodies baked in “Grandma’s Kitchen” — especially her Ginger Snaps.
Helen’s family members would like to thank her caregivers, Shauna and Shareikka, as well as Ashley and Heidi of Home Helpers, who assisted them in recent months. The family is also grateful for the excellent care provided by Crossroads Hospice & Palliative Care.
A graveside service is planned with immediate family at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. Online obituary and guest registry are available at www.zakmonbarrenfh.com
