DOYLESTOWN – Helen A. Helmick, age 87, passed away unexpectedly on July 24, 2022.
Born on April 23, 1935 in Marshallville, OH to the late Merle and Mary L. (Shaffer) Weimer, she was a resident of Doylestown for 50 years, previously of Norton. Helen had worked at P.P.G. Co. in Barberton and also at W.T. Grants in Norton. A member of Columbia United Church of Christ in Barberton for many years, she was dedicated to her church and participated in many of its activities. She loved to cook, read, and enjoyed being with her cats.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her first husband, William; second husband, Ivan; sisters, Mary Minta-Beam, Ruth Ellen Barkin. She is survived by her daughter, Tammy (Kenneth) Lowe of Summerville, S.C.; son, Dean Helmick of Barberton; grandchildren, Corey (Jessica) Lowe of Akron, Adam (Cherie) Helmick of Idaho, Jill Helmick of Barberton; great grandchildren, Dexter and Jeffrey; longtime friend and companion, Charlie Ross; nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
Funeral service will be Saturday, July 30, 2022 at 11:30 a.m. at Columbia United Church of Christ, 978 Wooster Rd. W., Barberton, OH, 44203 with Pastor Brent Malone, officiating. Calling hours will be from 10 am until time of service at the church. Burial will take place at St. Michael’s Cemetery in Marshallville. Memorials may be made to Columbia United Church of Christ.
