Janee L. Larson

NORTH CANTON – Janee L. Larson, age 73, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 12, 2026, surrounded by her family.

Born on May 13, 1952 in Canton, OH to the late Warren and Doris (Greenawalt) Ryder, she was a resident of North Canton, previously of Dalton. A 1970 graduate of Dalton High School, Janee obtained her nursing degree from Aultman School of Nursing in 1973 and worked as an RN in Massillon, Denver, CO, and Glendale, AZ. She married Steven G. Larson on September 10, 1977, and the couple made their home in Denver, Glendale, Albuquerque, NM, Layton, UT and Dalton. Janee left nursing to be a stay-at-home mother, volunteering on countless school and church committees and instilling in her children a sense of curiosity and love of learning. She later pursued a career in education, earning degrees from Kent State and Walsh universities and a master’s degree in education from Ashland University. She retired as a teacher from Central Christian School. She was a member of Cornerstone Community Church and enjoyed reading, sewing and spending time with her family and lifelong friends. Janee’s greatest joy was being grandma to her six beloved grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and parents-in-law Dale (Adeline) Larson. She is survived by children Steven Aaron (Patricia Quintana) Larson of League City, TX; Matthew (Laurel) Larson of Lakewood, OH, Rebecca L. (Michael) Troyer of North Canton, Nathan D. (Michelle) Larson of North Canton, grandchildren, Reed, Adeline, Micah, Avery, Ellis, Finn; her siblings Warren Stanley (Connie) Ryder of Canton, Susan (Gregg) Oswald of Millersburg, James (Judy) Ryder of Massillon, Timothy (Cindy) Ryder of Kidron, Barbara (Edgar) Moore of Massillon, Thomas (Brenda) Ryder of Dalton; sisters-in-law, Mary Ryder of Wadsworth, Cheryl (Rod) Carls of AZ; brother-in-law, Jim (Jeanne) Larson of CA; numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 21, 2026 at 12 noon at Cornerstone Community Church, 18600 Davis Rd., Dalton, OH, 44618, with Rev. Tim Hull, officiating. A private inurnment service will be held at a later date at Dalton Cemetery. Calling hours will be from 10 a.m. until time of service on Saturday at the church.
