Jason Sherman (Bisbee) Obituary

Doylestown, Ohio.  Jason Sherman peacefully passed away unexpectedly February 16, 2021.

Our chosen son came into my life on his new Grandma's birthday in 1969.  He was 23 days old when we met.  Many thanks to the biological parents who allowed us to love him, nurture him and share his life.  His spirit was strong and generous.

Jason, 51, lived in Doylestown, grew up in Bath and graduated from Revere High School where he was in Marching Band.

Jason was predeceased by his Grandparents Robert and Bessie Grace(Doylestown), father Roger J. Sherman(Akron), and brother Roger Sherman.  He is survived by his parents David and Goldie(Grace) Bisbee of the home; sisters Holly Sherman, Margaret Sheahen, Irene Hayden and Jean Bird; brother William Sherman; nieces Victoria, Brenna and Lily.

He loved animals and his childhood was filled with dogs, cats, goats, horses and turtles. Sports activities included fencing, Little League Baseball, wrestling, Tae Kwon Do and soccer.  Ever athletic, he began swimming in Mexico, water-skiing in Canada and snow-skiing in Ohio (breaking his leg once).  He was a talented artist and studied at Columbus School of Art and Design, The Junior College of Albany, Hudson Valley CC (New York) and is a graduate of The University of Akron.

Boys Scouts played a major role in his life.  At age 10, he was selected the National Representative for Cub Scout's 50th Anniversary.  As BSA's top Cub Scout, he travelled throughout the USA and spoke at meetings in Atlanta, Washington DC and New Orleans.  He was invited to join The Ohio State University Band for opening ceremony of a home game where he led the filled stadium in the Pledge of Allegiance.

He was invited to the White House to meet with President Jimmy Carter in the Oval Office.  While in DC former astronaut and Senator John Glenn invited Jason to his office to examine and discuss items from Glenn's space flight.  He explored the Great Barrier Reef when he went to Australia's National Scout Jamboree.  Jason attended the World Scout Jamboree in Calgary, Alberta Canada as part of America's designated Scout Contingent.  He visited Philmont as a Cub Scout and as a Boy Scout.  He earned his Eagle Award and was a member of Order of the Arrow.

We will miss his humor and his strength.  Jason's peaceful passing, as he slept in his home with loved ones nearby, created a pain of loss that cannot be measured.

Burial and Life Celebration May 1, 2021. Details to be announced later.  Memorials in his name may be sent to Catching Dreams Foundation, Inc. at PO Box 85, Doylestown, Ohio 44230. Online obituary and guest registry are available at www.zakmonbarrenfh.com
