John W. Srock

DOYLESTOWN – John W. Srock, age 62, passed away unexpectedly on March 21, 2024.

Born on June 16, 1961 in Wadsworth, OH to the late Thomas and Patricia (Hodges) Srock, he had been a life resident of Doylestown. A 1979 graduate of Chippewa High School, he went on to attend the College of Wooster where he was a three-sport athlete. John was the owner and operator of Srock Tree Service and also did landscaping.  He attended the Doylestown United Methodist Church. John had many passions but wrestling, playing Euchre, and cooking were favorites.  Having been a wrestler himself, he enjoyed watching and helping his son along his wrestling journey.  As for cooking, his specialty was sweets and treats, but he was also known for his meatballs, buckeyes and sausage cabbage and noodles. John enjoyed cooking for the Chippewa Wrestling Invitational, the WCAL League, and his wife’s colleagues at the hospital. 

John was a devoted husband and father. He was fiercely loved by his wife of 39 years, Beth; daughter, Shanna (Michael) Huth of Powell, OH; son, Zack (Brielle) Srock of Willoughby, OH; sister, Renee (Doug) McIntire of North Port, FL; bestest boy, Diesel, the boxer who accompanied him everywhere; beloved father and mother-in-law, Ed and Shirley Tate; brothers and sisters-in-law, Jake (Patty) Tate, Becky (Jim) Spach, and Melinda (Sergio) Iruegas; many nieces, nephews; grand-dogs Zeke, Nova, Autumn; and many friends. 

A celebration of life service will be held on Friday, March 29, 2024 at 11 a.m. at the Doylestown United Methodist Church, 153 Church St., Doylestown, OH, 44230 with Pastor Dale Warrick, officiating.  Calling hours will be Thursday evening from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Zak-Thacker & Monbarren Funeral Home, 132 N. Portage St., Doylestown, OH 44230.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Chippewa Local Schools Wrestling Program.
