BARBERTON – June L. Carter, age 88, passed away on June 8, 2026.
She was born on June 4, 1938 in Doylestown, OH to the late Roscoe and Martha (Hickman) Oxley. A 1956 graduate of Doylestown High School, she was a resident of Barberton since 1975. June had worked in retail most of her life having worked in Dr Tang’s office in Fairlawn and managing the Added Touch at the former Rolling Acres Mall for many years. She also worked alongside her husband Ronald for seven years at Carter’s Burger Habit, a family restaurant which they owned and operated in downtown Akron. June was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her first husband, Carl Caldwell; second husband, Ronald Carter; son, Daniel L. Carter; daughter, Dawn Carter; siblings, Gail (Delores) Oxley, Alice (Virgil) Milburn, and Robert (Dorothy) Oxley. She is survived by her daughters, Martha Smith of Canton, Cindy Ferry of Cuyahoga Falls; grandchildren, Hannah Carter, Bethany Carter, Zachary (Emily) Smith, Chad Smith; great grandchildren, Levi, Seli, Zamirah; special friend, Dan Spiker; other family and friends.
There are no services scheduled at this time. Memorials in honor of June may be made to the Arbor Day Foundation or plant a tree in her memory.
