Lana R. Baker

WADSWORTH – Lana R. Baker, age 70, passed away on April 14, 2018.

Born on April 17, 1947 in Wadsworth to the late Clyde K. and Thelma G. (McMahan) Baker, she was a resident of the Wadsworth/Barberton area.  A graduate of Wadsworth High School, Lana obtained her Bachelor’s Degree from Kent State University and then taught kindergarten and second grade with the Norwayne Local Schools until her retirement.  She was a member of the Emanuel United Church of Christ and enjoyed traveling, swimming, reading, and playing Euchre with her church friends.

She is survived by her sister, Cheryl (George) Swinehart of Wadsworth; brother, Kenneth Baker of Kalamazoo, MI; nieces, Tamara Baker, Karen Swinehart; nephew, Adam Swinehart; great nephew, Gunnar Swinehart; great niece, Caroline Swinehart; long-time best friends, Trixie and Alice.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 12, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Emanuel United Church of Christ, 16 Eastern Rd., Doylestown, OH, 44230 with Pastor Gaye Santoro, officiating.  A private inurnment will be held at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.  Family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made on Lana’s behalf to Lake Anna YMCA, 500 W.
