DOYLESTOWN – Leon D. Hosey, age 83, passed away on May 17, 2021.
Born on January 18, 1938 in Daniels Run, WV to the late Ernest and Louise (Gunn) Hosey, he was a 1955 graduate of Barberton High School and resident of Doylestown since 1968, previously of Barberton. A veteran of the U.S. Air force, 463rd Tactical Air Command, Leon was a member of the mechanical crew on the first C-130 that was delivered to Japan. He was a self-employed machine repairman after retiring from Monsanto after 32 years of service. A member of Johnson United Methodist Church and the Air Force Association, Leon was a “jack of all trades” who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Preceded in death by his stepfather, Charles Powell; half-sister, Patricia Powell-White; uncles, Pete Gunn, Delbert Gainer, he is survived by his wife of 58 years, Charlotte; daughter, Lynn Crowder of Norton; grandchildren, Daniel (Lexi) Crowder, Denise Crowder; great grandchildren, Daniel Jr., and Mackenzie Crowder; aunts, Ada Gunn and Bertha Gainer; other family and friends.

Calling hours following Covid-19 guidelines requiring facial coverings, and social distancing will be held on Monday, May 24, 2021 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Zak-Thacker & Monbarren Funeral Home, 132 N. Portage St., Doylestown, OH, 44230. A private service will be held by the family with inurnment and military honors at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Johnson United Methodist Church, 3409 Johnson Rd., Norton, OH, 44203, or a charity of one’s choice.
